- Christopher Lirette, '07, an English writing major, was awarded a Fulbright Grant to study the origins of the Louisiana cajun culture in Canada.
- Ryan M. Ivie, ’06, a chemistry/biological sciences major, was awarded a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.
- Katherine Morrow Jones, ’05, a classical studies major, was awarded an Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship.
- The Maroon, the weekly student newspaper, won the Pacemaker Award for the 1997 – 98 academic year, the equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize for college newspapers. In 2003, The Maroon staff was presented with a Mark of Excellence Award by the Society of Professional Journalists. For the second consecutive year, The Maroon was named best non-daily paper. Several students were also cited for excellence for their contributions.
