Alumni Successes

Undergraduate Program

Christine Baudin - Christine is enrolled in an M.A. program in Theological Studies at St. Louis University. She was recently awarded the Puleo Scholarship which is given annually to students doing graduate work in or majoring in theology.

Steven Benko - Steve has completed an M.A. in Philosophy from Syracuse University and is now teaching at North Carolina, Wesleyan University. He is scheduled to defend his dissertation in October, 2003.

Florence Caffrey Bourg (1988, Summa Cum Laude) - Flossie completed her Ph.D. in Ethics at Boston College where she was a Teaching Fellow in 1994-95. She is now an Assistant Professor in the Religious and Pastoral Studies Department, College of Mount Saint Joseph, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Michael Juge - Michael graduated with a specialization in World Religions. He has completed his M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas. He is currently in training as Special Agent for the U.S. State Department.

Van Pham - Van completed her doctorate at the Catholic University of America. She was awarded a doctoral fellowship from the Fund for Theological Education. She is also an editorial assistant for Anthropological Quarterly, a journal published by CUA's anthropology department. Van currently teaches part-time at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Sr. My Linh Vu - Since the Fall of 2000, Sr. Linh has been teaching and serving as a vocations director at Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans.

Graduate Program

Charlene Burns - Charlene completed her Ph.D. in Religion at Vanderbilt University. Her dissertation was published by Augsburg Fortress Press as Divine Becoming: Rethinking Jesus and Incarnation (2001). She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She has recently published articles in the Journal of Psychology and Theology and Teaching Religion.

Pamela Francis ('96) - Pamela is serving as Admissions Coordinator at the Louisiana Scholars' College in Natchitoches, the honors college of the University of Louisiana system.

Michael Godwin ('03) - Michael was admitted to Yale University Divinity School but has elected to study law, perhaps at the University of Texas.

Deborah Halter ('99) - After completing her Masters degree with distinction, Deborah served as the Executive Director of the Women's Ordination Conference. She has now returned to Loyola to teach as a full-time instructor in the department of Religious Studies.

Brenda Miller ('98) - Brenda will be beginning her third year on the faculty at Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans (where she'll be joined by Sr. My Linh Vu!). She teaches World Religions to seniors, as well as Hebrew Scriptures and Ethics. She reports that she loves teaching.

Marla Morris ('93) - Marla completed the Ph.D. in Curriculum Theory at Louisiana State University. She co-edited the book How We Work (Peter Lang Publishers), and her dissertation has been published by Lawrence Erlbaum and Associates. She has also been appointed an editor of the Journal of Curriculum Theory. She is currently an Assistant Professor in Curriculum, Foundations, & Reading at Georgia Southern University.

Vinzi Provenza ('00) - After completing his Masters degree with distinction, Vinzi is now teaches as an Adjunct faculty member in our department.

Naoko Sasaki ('97) - Naoko is pursuing the Ph.D. in Religion at Syracuse University. She completed her comprehensive exams in Fall 2000, and continues her research in Christian theology, Christianity and modernity/postmodernity, and Japanese religious philosophy

John Switzer ('97) - John has completed his course work toward the Ph.D. in Religious Education at Boston College. He is currently writing his dissertation.

Caleb Shaw ('03) - Caleb is pursuing a graduate degree in Philosophy at Boston College.
