A native of Bolivia, Dr. Salmón has been on the Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures faculty since 1986. She specializes in Latin American Literature and culture. She has written many articles on Andean and Central American literature and has published a book entitled El espejo indígena (1997). She has read scores of papers at regional and international meetings and delivered numerous lectures. She teaches interdisciplinary courses in Spanish American culture and literature (The Mexican Revolution in Film and Fiction). She has been recognized for her excellence in teaching by the Student Alumni Association in 1994. She has served as Chair of the Latin American Studies Committee and as Chair of the Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures Department from 1996 to 1999.
