Blanca Anderson

Blanca Anderson, a native of Puerto Rico, specializes in 20th century Spanish American literature. She has published a critical work on the Argentinian writer Julio Cortázar's novel 62 modelo para armar. She teaches all levels of the Spanish language courses as well as the upper level culture and literature of Spanish America courses. She has created more specialized courses on "fantastic literature", literature of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, and women writers of Latin America.

Blanca Anderson is also a writer of fiction, having published in Spain, Mexico, and the United States. She has been included in the series Cuadernos de Malinalco (Mexico: Patronato de Cultura Iberoamericana,1990) and in the anthology Poetas sin fronteras (Madrid, 2000). Her other published works of fiction are: the short stories Cuando los heraldos piden tregua (Madrid,1996), the poetry collections Ecos arañados (Madrid,1996) and Poemas de amor y de alquimia/ Poems of Love and Alchemy, (New Jersey, 2002) and her novel La edad del arrepentimiento (New Jersey, 2003).  Her last book, the collection of short stories Ultima noche was published in Madrid in December 2005.

Recognition for her teaching include the Arts & Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award in 1993; Loyola nominee for the Carnegie Foundation's National Teaching Award in 1993 and 1994; and the inclusion in Who's Who Among Americas Teachers in since the year 2003.
