Our Facilities

The Undergraduate Research Lab

Located in MO 562 houses carrels and workstations for undergraduate students working on research projects with faculty members. The equipment available to students includes UNIX and Windows servers and workstations, laptops, wireless access points, a laser printer and a scanner. A high-speed network connects the servers and workstations to each other and to the Internet. Several software packages are installed in support of Internet applications, web services, software development, graphics and database access.

High Performance Computing Lab

This lab is located in MO 564. It is under construction.

Monroe Teaching Labs

Monroe 205 and 470 house labs that are used for classroom activities. It is used primarily for Freshmen and Sophomore courses and each consists of 25 PC's with all necessary software installed under WinXP.

All labs, buildings and dorms are connected through the Loyola network, which provides access to university resources and the Internet. There are several other University labs that have somewhat less powerful compters (PC and Mac) than the department labs which are also open to students most hours during weekdays and somewhat fewer hours on weekends.

Mathematics Center

The Loyola Mathematics Center, commonly referred to as the "Math Lab", is a multimedia resource center for all Loyola math students. Well qualified students provide one-on-one tutoring for students from Math 092 (developmental math) through calculus, differential equations, linear algebra and discrete math. Interactive computer software as well as video tapes are available to those who prefer these methods of assistance. Scientific Notebook, MATLAB, SPSS, Visual Basic, Java and other programs are available on our computers for the use of the students and staff. Textbooks, solutions manuals and other reference materials are available for almost all undergraduate math courses taught at Loyola. Instruction and assistance using various types of graphing calculators are also provided.
