Fr. Nicoll received his Ph.D. from the University of Vienna, 1970.
Biography
Associate Professor of History: B.A. in History, Spring Hill College 1955; M.A. in History, Fordham University 1960; Licentiat in Sacred Theology, Jesuit College, University of Innsbruck 1962; Ph.D. in contemporary central European history, University of Vienna 1970. Taught history at Spring Hill College 1970-1976 where he was chairman of the department, President of the University Senate, head of a student dormitory and teacher of the year in 1975. At Loyola he has been Assistant Dean, member of the Board of Trustees, and member of the Loyola Corporation. He teaches World Civilization, Ancient History, Social History of Greece and Rome, Social History of Egypt, Palestinians and Israelis, Eastern European History, and History of Catholicism. He has been associated with the Loyola Honors Program for the past decade. At present he is working on a book dealing with Austrian-Hungarian prisoners of war in 1917-1918.
