Integrally linked to the Film Studies Minor courses is the Film Buffs Work-Study Program, run by Dr. Peggy McCormack, Director of the Film Buffs Program, Chairperson of the Film Studies Committee, and advisor to all students interested in Film Studies Minor courses.
The Film Buffs Work-Study Program provides evening screenings for all films screened for Film Studies Minor courses as well as for Loyola student and faculty organizations, and for non-profit organizations in the New Orleans community.
The Film Buffs Program screenings take place Monday through Thursday evenings during the fall and spring semesters in the three Film Buffs Program screening rooms: Bobet 332, Bobet 214, and Bobet 101. Films start at 7:30 P. M. unless otherwise noted in the Film Buffs Program printed semester schedules available outside the Film Buffs Office (Bobet 334) and throughout the campus. Printed schedules can also be mailed to Film Buffs Program patrons; call the Film Buffs Program office (504-865-2152) or contact Dr. Peggy McCormack at cormack@loyno.edu.
Screening rooms are equipped with excellent projection equipment: projectors, full size screens, Surround Sound speaker systems, and in the projection booths, up to date amplifiers, dvd players, VHS players, and laser disc players. These films are screened by Film Buffs Work-Study Program student projectionists. Students who qualify for Work-Study awards may apply to the Film Buffs Program for employment as projectionists. Students must first be awarded Work-Study awards; to apply for Work-Study on campus employment, contact Human Resources (Mercy 103; 504-864-7896).
