Mullahy Chair of Environmental Biology, Department of Biological Sciences. Currently I teach Global Ecology (BIOL Z194) in the Environmental Studies Program.  Having just arrived here at Loyola, I am in the process of developing courses for biology majors and for non-science majors.  Publications include over 40 articles in journals and several book chapters, including Progress in Botany, Physiologia Plantarum, Journal of Vegetation Science, Plant Ecology, American Midland Naturalist, and Oecologia. My research interests include functional ecology of plants and global change biology.    Specific current projects address competion/facilitation and wood plant increase in grasslands and savannas; ecological and physiological effects of stratospheric ozen depletion and increased ultraviolet-B radiation on plants and ecosystems.
