Associate Professor of Sociology, College of Arts & Sciences. Ph.D., University of Tennessee, 1981. I currently teach Environment and Society (SOCI X135), Global Environmental Crisis (SOCI X136), as well as an honors course Planet Earth Blues (SOCI H233) in the ENVA Program. My major research areas include Environmental Sociology and Global Sustainability, with a particular focus on analyzing community and stakeholder conflicts surrounding environmental controversies. I am currently engaged in a study of the socio-environmental impacts and conflicts surrounding aquaculture production and salmon farming in the Pacific Northwest and will be serving as a visiting professor at Oregon State University for the 2004-05 year. My articles and reviews have appeared in such journals as Sociological Inquiry, Sociological Spectrum, Social Forces, Contemporary Sociology, Humanity and Society, Proteus, and Social Justice, among others.
