Accolades and Kudos to these Loyola English Graduates
Awards, acceptances, accomplishments and fellowships granted to our graduates in 2007:
- Christopher Lirette has received a Fulbright grant to study in Nova Scotia.
- David Riche has been accepted at LSU with a full tuition remission Teaching Assistantship. He will also receive a living stipend and will teach one class per semester.
- Lacey Booth has been accepted at Columbia University's Creative Writing Program with a scholarship. She has also been accepted at the New School in New York.
- Julia Carey has been accepted at the University of Denver in an English Ph.D. program. She has received a half-tuition scholarship.
- Christie Cleveland has been accepted in the creative writing programs of the Universities of Essex and East Anglia. She has also been accepted at USC and plans to attend.
- Jeff Guhin (03) received a full-tuition Scholarship and a $20,000.00-a-year stipend to pursue his Ph.D. studies in Sociology at Yale University
- Skelly McCay (01) Loyola Interim Honors Director has received a scholarship to attend Tulane Law School.
- Robert Cowser (92) has published his second book, a memoir, Scorekeeping. He teaches creative writing at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.
- Kathryn Powell (92) has edited, with Donald Scragg, Apocryphal Texts and Traditions in Anglo-Saxon England. She teaches at DePaul University in Chicago.
The following students were recognized at the 2006 College of Arts and Sciences Horors Convocation:

- Stephen Heno received the Dawson Gaillard Award in Screenwriting
- Alex Morris received the Dawson Gaillard Award in Poetry
- Corin Zaragoza received the Dawson Gaillard Award in Fiction
- Julia Carey received Honorable Mention in the Women's Studies Creative Writing Contest, she also received the award for the Women's Studies Essay Contest.

Accomplishments from 2005
- Erica Ciccarone (04) was accepted at New School in Creative Writing with a scholarship She was also accepted at Brooklyn College and NYU.
- Rachel Drude was accepted with a scholarship at Loyola Law School. She was also accepted at LSAu Law, Thomas Jefferson Law, California Western and University of Miami. She will attend University of Miami
- Vincent Cellucci received a tuition waiver and a $16,000.00 stipend from LSU in Creative Writing.
- Sean Field received a Fellowship to University of Michigan Ann Arbor in their Ph.D. program with promise of funding for 5 years.. He was also accepted at Univeresity of Washington with a TA, at U of Colarod at Boulder with a Fellowshiip.
- Mary Isbell has been accepted in MA programs at Boston College, Northeastern University ( with a full TA position), at University of Oregon, University of Maryland, University of Houston and University of Colorado (with partial TA position)
- Andrew Mister (04) has received acceptance with funding into the Ph.D. program at SUNY Albany.
- Moira Murphy received a $13,000.00 from De Paul Law School. She was also admitted to University of Kansas.
- Scott Shushan (04) received a scholarship to New School.
Accomplishments from 2004
- Emily Clark will attend LSU Law School in the fall.
- Cephas Archie will attend the University of Southern California Law School in the fall.
- Courtney Austin will attend Medical School at LSU in the fall.
- Evan Guidry has been selected for the JET program and will teach in Japan next fall.
- Sean Field is an alternate for a Fulbright Fellowship to Germany.
- Stephanie Margherio has been selected for the Peace Corps and will work in Africa.
- Amanda Kuhnel has won a teaching Assistantship at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. She will study Southern Regionalism and Environmental Literature. She was also accepted at several other Universities with T.A's.
Accomplishments from 2003
- Alexis Franks received a fellowship to study Japanese Language and Film at the University of Washington.She also won an Honorable Mention in the USA Today Scholars Award.
- Joseph Hughes will be attending Notre Dame to pursue an MFA in poetry
- Darcy Courteau will be attending Arizona State University to pursue an MFA in Fiction.
Accomplishments from 2002
- Sarah Voorhies will attend Tulane LawSchool on a scholarship for $25,000 per year. She was also accepted to Loyola Law School New Orleans(with a full scholarship), as well as to the University of Texas Law School.
- Tom Andes was accepted for an MFA program in creative writing at the New School in New York.
- Robert Azzarello got a full scholarship to the University of Nevada to study Eco Criticism.
- Nathaniel Bailey has-beenaccepted into the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Notre Dame in order to pursue a Masters ofTheogical Studies. He has also received an offer for a full tuition scholarship from Marquette University in Theology.
- Jessie Morgan Owens has accpeted the offer of afull tuition and a stipend to NYU, and she was offeredgiven scholarships to Boston University and St. Louis University.
- Kathy Powell has finished her Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from Notre Dame. She has a research position at the University of Manchester in the U.K.
- Bryan Walsh (2001) was accepted at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard and will continue his studies in Harvard Divinity School earning a double masters.
- Ana Berding got a 90% tuition scholarship to U of Cincinnati.
- Jessica Collier and Wesley Harris received teaching positions in France.
Accomplishments from 2001
- Bryan Walsh (2001) received a Fulbright to teach English in Korea. He has also been admitted to Harvard Divinity School. He will attend Harvard in the fall.
- Leslie Campisi (2001) was named Assistant Marketing Director for the Public Theatre in New York.
- Jennifer Lavasseur and Kevin Rabalais (1998 graduates) headed to the University of Wellington in New Zealand to pursue Masters degrees. Jennifer will be in the Creative Writing Program and Kevin will be in a Masters program in English.
- Tracy Jackson (2001) won a full scholarship to Tulane University Law School. She has also been accepted with scholarship money to Vanderbilt, Georgetown, and several other law schools.
- Gabrielle Wilson (2001) won a full scholarship to Tulane Law School. She has also won partial scholarships to several other law schools.
- Skelly McCay (2001) won a British Marshall to study philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. He was awarded USA Today's First Team Scholar Award.
