Chris Washington received his Phd from Miami University of Ohio in 2012. He specializes in British literature of the long eighteenth century with a specific focus on British Romanticism, with related interests in animal studies, poetics, and contemporary poetry. His current book project, Facing Sympathy: Species Form and Romantic Biopolitics, shows how the Shelley circle and several English peasant poets, challenged the biopolitical species imperatives of Enlightenment egalitarian humanism.
