Research interests
His biological research interests are in the area of the systematics of South American and Caribbean snakes and the status of declining amphibian populations. His communications students and he are involved in several studies analyzing how environmental issues are covered in the press. Additionally, he is very active in environmental communications and journalism in the West Indies and Central America .

Courses taught in Biological Sciences Herpetology (BIOL A345 & A346), Ecology of the Mississippi River Delta Region (BIOL Z144), and Tropical Biology (BIOL A118).
